Alishan Naqvee is a founding Partner of LexCounsel, Law Offices with extensive experience in laws governing and affecting businesses and individuals in India. He has consistently been nominated as a “Leading Lawyer” in the area of “Venture Capital and Private Equity”, and is appreciated for his ability to suggest innovative investment structures encompassing the objectives of each negotiating party.

Alishan is frequently consulted by the Government departments in their policy masking initiatives, and regularly authors columns and articles in reputed journals on legal and regulatory issues of national importance. Alishan has advised Government authorities and private investors on privatization initiatives and structures. With extensive practice in the Indian corporate and transactional laws of over a decade, Alishan has successfully represented many multinational corporations, Indian corporate, venture capital funds and high net worth individuals in various sectors of economy and disputes resolution. His experience also encompasses corporate and commercial laws, transactional and sector specific laws, tax and tax benefits, acquisitions and mergers and cross-border investments.

During the last couple of years, Alishan has particularly been active in the litigation area, heading LexCounsel’s litigation practice. He has been instrumental in obtaining a few path breaking judgments in litigations related to service tax and Government tenders.

Alishan leads the representation of many known retailers and brands including McDonalds, Omaxe, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Jean Paul Gaultier, Timex, Ireo Group, Weekender, Satya Paul and the distributors of Toyota, Ford and Hyundai in India in their challenge to constitutionality of service tax on commercial rentals. In the area of “Licensing and Franchising”, Alishan advises on the India arrangements of a number of global luxury and consumer brands including Aigner, Ferragamo, Bruno Magli, Rossetti, H2O+, Paul Smith, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Lotto, Walt Disney, Levi’s, Dockers, Florsheim and Reebok.

Alishan regularly advises biotechnology companies and clinical research organizations on legal issues in clinical research and trials in India in view of ICH-GCP Guidelines, WHO Guidelines and Indian GCP Guidelines. He advises ethics committees and protocol approvals, and has been member of known ethics committees in India.
