Labour and Employment: Non-solicitation, employee claims including for bonus, stock option and other incentive schemes, downsizing, enforcement of employee post termination obligations and strategies for containing attrition, paternity leave policy, issues related to secondment, work visas.

General Corporate and Commercial: Business structures in India, corporate investment structuring and restructuring, regulatory issues, shareholder issues, company establishment and taxation, technology transfers, know how licensing, inter corporate investment, foreign exchange control issues, customs and excise matters, import and export regulations, trading etc.

Education: Schools and higher education system in India including structuring alternative models for provision of educational services in compliance with applicable education regulations and guidelines

Media: Print media and title registration issues; laws applicable to advertisement of drugs.

Real Estate: Investing in real estate business in India pursuant to liberalized real estate regulations for foreign investment, advice on investment structures, tax effective options, financial options for a UAE developer in its joint development with an Indian developer of a residential township in Mumbai; contracts for multi-cuisine restaurants.

Life Sciences and Biotechnology: Classification of BAFS, OTC and herbal health products and cosmetic products, permitted, restricted and prohibited ingredients, labeling and registration requirements, Indian food and drug laws including for an European MLM health supplement and cosmetics company, Indian laws applicable to an American Ice Cream company.

Insurance: Indian law implications for alternative risk transfers, including cell captives and structuring outsourced employees’ agreements and arrangements in the insurance sector, establishment of a liaison office for a South African insurance company, obtaining a direct broker license from the IRDA for an Indian company.

Regulatory: liaisoning with ministries including for invitaiton based comments/suggestions on the consolidated FDI Policy and participating in discussions held in this regard.
